8-Hour of Behind-the-Wheel
This course includes 24-hours of onsite classroom training and 8-hours of behind-the-wheel
Instructor Dennis Bowman and his highly trained team of instructors at 1st Choice Driving Academy. Our instructors strive to make learning to drive an engaging and supportive experience, helping each student develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, and decision-making abilities needed to become a safe and responsible driver. From the classroom to the road, we prepare students for the challenges of real-world driving and a lifetime of safe driving.
24-Hour Classroom
This course consists of 10 units of state-provided curriculum, completed over 8 classroom sessions. Each session runs Monday through Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 7:15 PM, over a two-week period. Classes operate on a rolling schedule, with exceptions for holidays.
Students should plan to make a two-week commitment to complete the course.
Please note: Class 1 must be the student’s first attended class, and Class 8 must be their final attended class. If a class is missed, our office will help determine the appropriate make-up date while ensuring the required class order is maintained.
Classroom Calendar:
8-Hours Behind-the-Wheel
Once a student has completed the required 24-hour classroom course and logged a minimum of 20 hours of driving practice with a parent or legal guardian, they are eligible to begin their 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.
Scheduling
At 1st Choice Driving Academy, students are contacted to schedule their in-car lessons within 1–2 weeks after completing their classroom set, provided all required documents have been submitted to our office.
Lessons
Our 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction will be divided into four 2-hour lessons. When it is your turn to schedule, you will have the flexibility to choose dates and times that work best for your family. Most students choose either
-
Two lessons per week for two weeks
or
-
One lesson per week for four weeks
-
The schedule will depend on the student’s driving experience; how much they practice between lessons and license eligibility.
